What to Do About Cellulite

As if life in a swimsuit isn’t hard enough! Many of us spend hours in department store dressing rooms, trying on one suit after another, before we find one that makes us feel safe enough to venture out into public wearing it. There you are, admiring your reflection in the mirror, marveling at how this wondrous garment boosts your cleavage and slims your waistline… and then you turn around. That’s when you realize your “rear view” is full of lumpy, bumpy cellulite.

You can’t spend all of your time wrapped in a towel or cover-up, so what can you do about that cellulite? There are a few things that can help, but of course your individuals results will depend upon many different factors.

Weight loss. Cellulite is composed of fat, but the gaps in your connective tissue cause the actual bulging lumps that often appear on the backs of your thighs and buttocks. You can’t fix those gaps, of course, but weight loss can help to shrink the fat cells that bulge through them. Your individual results will depends upon how resilient your skin is, and how well it bounces back into shape as you lose weight. Some people lose a significant amount of weight and still have some cellulite.

Topical solutions. In recent years, the health and beauty market has been flooded with cellulite-reducing creams. Some of these solutions can provide temporary benefits, such as smoother or tighter skin, that help to reduce the appearance of cellulite. However, your results will usually last only until your next shower. These creams can boost your confidence a bit, but they don’t remove fat cells and they don’t provide drastic, lasting results.

Liposuction. Liposuction is a surgical treatment, in which stubborn fat cells are actually removed from your body through an incision in the skin. As with any surgical procedure, you will face risks, and you will experience a significant recovery period. And of course, you will have permanent scars from the procedure. Liposuction definitely isn’t a procedure to be taken lightly.

Laser treatments. Our TruSculpt laser emits a radiofrequency energy into fat cells below the surface of the skin. The heat destroys stubborn pockets of fat cells, ridding you of their appearance for good. Since TruSculpt is a non-invasive procedure, you can return to work and other activities immediately afterward.
